Baikunth (Vaikunth) Chaturdashi - Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi
According to Sanatan Dharma, Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month is known as Baikunth Chaturdashi. It is believed that on Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, in Hemlambha year, during Arunodaya Kaal, in Brahma Muhurta, Lord Vishnu himself took bath at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi. Vishweshwar had worshipped here by observing Pashupat fast. Lord Shankar, pleased with the penance of Lord Vishnu, blessed Vishnu first and then every devotee who worshipped him to get Vaikunth on this day. It is believed that by worshipping Lord Vishnu, the lord of Baikuntha, one gets the desired result and gets residence in Baikunth Dham. In Hinduism, Vaikunth Lok is considered to be the residence of Lord Vishnu and the abode of happiness. According to mythological beliefs, Vaikunth Lok is conscious, divine and illuminated. Since then, this day is also celebrated as 'Kashi Vishwanath Sthapana Divas'. On the occasion of this auspicious day, Lord Shiva and Vishnu are worshipped. Along with this, the fast is broken. It is also known as Baikunth Chaudas. Devotees observe fast on this day.
On the night of Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi (Vaikunth Chaturdashi), Lord Vishnu and Lord Shankar meet in the form of Harihar Milaap. It is believed that in the middle of the night, Lord Shiva goes to meet Vishnu. Lord Shiva hands over the responsibility of the universe to Lord Vishnu for four months and goes to the Himalayas. Therefore, Lord Shiva is worshipped with Tulsi leaves, which are the favourite leaves of Lord Vishnu. Later, when Lord Vishnu comes to Lord Shiva, fruits and Shiva's favourite Bilva leaves are offered to Lord Chaturbhuj. In this way, each other's favourite things are offered to each other. On this day, various seasonal fruits are offered to the Lord. Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi is a symbol of the "unity" of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. This is also the sign in the worship of the world protector Vishnu and the welfare-giving deity Shiva.
Devotees observe fast on the day of Baikunth Chaturdashi. This fast is observed on the day of Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi, which is the day of Arunodaya. On this Chaturdashi, this fast is observed by worshipping Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The fast is observed on the night when Chaturdashi is the day of Arunodaya. The worship and Parana of this fast is done on the next Arunodaya.
According to the scriptures, on this day, by meditating on Shiva and special Vishnu mantras, Shakti and Lakshmi are pleased, which removes poverty and worldly desires like wealth, fame, prestige and every happiness are fulfilled soon. Lord Vishnu had taken incarnation in the form of "Matsya" on the day of Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi. The next day, the fast of Kartik Purnima is considered to give the same result as ten yagyas.
