Students seeking admission to degree courses at city colleges – except the autonomous institutes–can start registering themselves with the University of Mumbai(MU) portal from June 1.
According to the guidelines provided by MU, those applying for undergraduate courses to the colleges affiliated to the university are required to undergo the mandatory pre-admission registration process, which will go on till June 14.
However, students have been asked to purchase admission forms from the colleges they wish to apply to before the process commences. While the admission process will be conducted at the respective colleges, applicants will have to attach a copy of their online registration form while applying to colleges. The pre-admission registration allows students to apply for more than one college and course.

Students seeking admission to the autonomous institutes in the city will have to apply directly to the colleges. According to MU, the online registration makes it easier for the university to generate exam hall tickets and results. When students register online, they are assigned a unique Permanent Registration Number (PRN).
CAMPS FOR DOMICILE, CASTE CERTIFICATE
With college admissions starting next month, the suburban collectorate plans to hold camps to provide certificates such as income, domicile, caste and others to students. The camps will be organised at 20 locations from June 1 to 29. The decision has been taken to facilitate students and their parents. “Many students require certificates from the state government to prove their caste, income, etc. Some also need bona fide or nationality certificate. The collectorate gets flooded with applications and it becomes impossible for us to provide certificates in a time-bound manner,” said Sachin Kurve, collector, suburban Mumbai.
“We will organise camps in Andheri, Borivli and Kurla, where our officers will collect the applications and give certificates on the last day,” Kurve said. Five camps will be held at five different locations in Andheri, 10 camps at 10 locations in Borivli and three camps at three different locations in Kurla.
