It’s that time of the year when applicants from across the country start the race to get admission in their preferred college in Delhi University (DU). But with the process come a host of confusions — about the colleges best for a particular course to queries, in general, about admissions.
Worried already? No need. Here’s your guide to acing undergraduate admissions. Check DU website for updates.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Create a new account after clicking the ‘New Registration’ link. Fill in details like your name, e-mail id, phone number. Details once filled, will be irreversible to change.
Log in through the new account you just created and fill in details according to each section.
The nine sections that you need to know about are:
Section 1: This is where you put in your personal details. Other information with reference to Ward quotas or Kashmiri Migrants quota and bank account details will also be required to be filled in this section.
Section 2: This one is for your academic details. For those who haven’t still received their qualifying exam results, a provision allows them to apply by providing their roll numbers and the board details. The varsity will take the results from the board directly, as and when released.
Section 3: This one is for all applicants seeking admissions into merit-based courses. One can apply for as many courses as they want under this section.
Section 4: This section applies to those seeking admission into entrance-based courses, on the basis of eligibility. Entrance exams shall be conducted for the following courses in select colleges only:
— B.A. (Honours) Business Economics, Bachelor of Management Studies, Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis), B.Tech. (Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations)
— B.A. (Honours) Humanities & Social Sciences
— Bachelors of Elementary Education
— Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports (B.Sc. [PE,HE &S])
— B.A. (Honours) Multimedia and Mass Communication
— Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hindustani Music- Vocal/Instrumental (Sitar/Sarod/Guitar/Violin/Santoor), Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Karnatak Music- Vocal/Instrumental (Veena/ Violin), Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Percussion Music (Tabla/Pakhawaj)
— Five Year Integrated Programme in Journalism in Delhi School of Journalism
Section 5: This is for those applying through Sports quota. As opposed to last year, when you could only upload only one certificate, a total of three best certificates will be allowed this year.
Section 6: This is for the extracurricular activities quota (ECA). For each ECA that you apply for, you’ll have to pay an extra fee of ₹100. All colleges don’t offer seats under this quota; do check what colleges accept which ECA categories for admission. You could look them up in the UG Bulletin of Information 2018-19 that has been released.

First cut-off: June 19
Second cut-off: June 25
Third cut-off: June 30
Fourth cut-off: July 6
Fifth cut-off: July 12
Section 7: This section would require you to upload admission related documents.
Section 8: This is where you can preview the form. You can save and edit details here (till you pay the registration fee, or before June 7, depending on whichever is earlier)
Section 9: The last section is where you can initiate the payment procedure for admission.

Self-attested copy of Class X and Class XII Board marksheet (in case, the hard copy of Class XII marksheet isn’t issued, then candidates can use their online marksheet downloaded from the board’s website)
Self-attested copy of SC/ST/OBC/PwD/KM/CW Certificate, if applicable
Self-attested copy of Sports Certificate(s) for last three years, if applicable
Self-attested copy of ECA or Extra Curricular Activities Certificate(s), if applicable

Second cut-off: June 25-27
Third cut-off: June 30-July 3
Fourth cut-off: July 6-9
Fifth cut-off: July 12-14
TIMINGS:
Morning Colleges: 9.30am to 1.30pm
Evening Colleges: 4pm to 7pm
After approval of admission, the applicant would need to log on to the UG admission portal to make admission fee payment online. This can be done till 12pm of the last day of the corresponding cut-off in which the applicant is taking admission.
