The admission tests for the first year honours courses of Jahangirngar University (JU) under academic session 2017-18 began Sunday as a total of 151 candidates are vying for each seat this year.
"A total of 2,99,171 aspirants have applied against 1,986 seats under six faculties and three institutes this year, breaking all previous records," the Admission Management Committee officials told BSS on Saturday.
The admission tests of the "A Unit" will be held on 8 and 9 October while "I Unit" tests will also be held on 9 October, they added.
The "D Unit" tests will be held on 10 and 11 October and "Unit C and C1" on 12 October.
Admission tests of "Unit B and G" will be held on 15 October while "Unit E and H" will be held on 16 October.
The admission tests will end on 17 October with holding tests for "F unit".
Earlier, the online registration process for the admission to first year honours courses was concluded on 30 September.
Besides, a mobile court led by an executive magistrate will be active on the campus during the admission tests for the first time to stop forgery, JU proctor professor Tapan Kumar Saha said.
