CARE INDIA RESPONDS WITH RELIEF KITS TO 18000 FLOOD SURVIVORS
CARE India is already responding to the situation in Morigaon district in Assam and Purnia district in Bihar with a focus on the most marginalised sections of the society, which include women and girls who are disproportionately affected during any calamity. We are reaching out to 18000 flood survivors with Shelter kits, Hygiene-cum-Dignity kits and water. Delivery kits are also being distributed in Assam to pregnant ladies to ensure safe childbirth, in case they are unable to reach their nearest health facility in time.
The states of Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have been receiving heavy rainfall and have been facing unprecedented floods affecting millions of people. The situation has claimed over 200 lives and left millions displaced. There has been huge damage to infrastructure and livestock and there is prediction of even more rains and devastation.
The relief kits include tarpaulins, floor mats, mosquito nets, jerry cans, water purification tablets, sarees/blouse, towels, bathing and washing soaps, baby napkins, bucket with lid, draperies, zipped bag, sanitary napkins, sewing set and much more.
Relief distribution with dry food items and water is currently on in flood affected districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Going forward, our aim is to reach out to more than 60,000 flood survivors in these three severely affected states.
We need to reach out to many more families who have been devastated and lost their livelihoods.
But we can’t do it alone. We URGENTLY need your support.
