Secretary General for AEPC
Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has an opening (or ihe post of Secretary General at its head office in Gurgaon, Haryana. AEPC. sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India was incorporate in 1978. It is one of the largest trade promotion councils with offices across the country and is the nodal agency to promote exports of readymade garments from India.
AEPC offers technical assistance and market information to its members and seeks to expand existing markets as well as open new markets for Indian apparel. Apparel is one of the largest export items of India, currently accounting for around US$17 billion annually.
Job Profile
The Secretary General would lead a team of professionals in apparel exports promotion, consultancy services to the apparel industry, administration and human resource development. The position would report to the Chairman and will be responsible for executing policies and programs of the Council as laid down by its Executive Committee.
The Secretary General would be expected to make plans and strategies for promotion of apparel exports in the face of global challenges. He/She would be expected to work closely and develop high level working relationships and contacts with various government departments, other relevant organizations and key stake holders to enable the council to achieve its objectives.
Essential qualification would be Graduation from a recognized Indian University. Preference would be given to candidates with Post Graduate degree in management - MBA or equivalent. Applicants should have minimum 15 years' experience in public administration/international trade at top management level. Knowledge of WTO as well as bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, good liaising skills with various government departments and knowledge of textiles and apparel Industry would be desirable.
An IAS Officer in the Joint Secretary rank or equal rank from State Governments may also apply on deputation (with a tenure of three years, extendable to five years) through proper channel. Applicants should be below 55 years of age as on 1.01.2017.
The applicants short listed on the basis of relevant qualifications and experience will be interviewed by a Selection Committee appointed by the Council for selection of the suitable candidate.
Salary and other perquisites will not be a constraint for the right candidate.
