Self-Reliant Initiatives through Joint Action (SRIJAN) is a national level Civil Society Organisation committed to work with the poor and deprived sections of the society by promoting community based institutions and engaging them into various livelihoods activities with backward and forward linkages. It has reached over 40,000 rural poor families in four states of India. It has established nine SHG Federations and five farmer producer organisations (visit www.srijanindia.org). 
As of now, SRIJAN has 17 accounting locations scattered across 4 states of India. If you want to contribute in transforming the lives of poor in those states and have mental satisfaction, come forward and make use of your expertise in the fields of accounts. At present we are looking for 11 candidates to be placed in 11 different project locations. Since we mainly work for the rural poor people, we got our offices nearby them, one may not get the taste of so called city-life there but all amenities to live a sound life are available. 
Apart from your requisite educational qualification and previous experience and other credentials (as furnished in details in part-A), if you possess following qualities you are a desirable one:
  • Can work closely with the poor and build the capacity of the beneficiaries as well as ground level staff
  • Ready to periodically visit community institutions (SHGs/Village Organizations/Federations), interact with them and help them in book keeping and maintaining basic records at their level.
  • Possess a problem solving attitude and a good team-man ship
  • Can undertake travel to the villages and other accounting locations as well as head office for as the case may be.
Part A
Designation                :           Accountant 
Reporting to              :           Team Leader/ Regional accountant/Program Leader/Finance Officer
Location                     :           Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh with the scope of visiting various project locations as per necessity
  
Job role:
The Accountant will have the following responsibilities:
  • Maintaining all books of accounts (Cash Book, Bank Book, Ledger, Journal, etc) as per the funding agency’s guidelines & maintaining voucher files on monthly basis.
  • Preparing voucher and recording of transactions into Tally ERP 9.0, Volac or any other accounting software
  • Responsible for all office based records and registers (salary, fixed assets, spares, accounts, log book, etc.).
  • Supporting in purchase systems for both fixed assets and materials for distribution to the beneficiaries.
  • Maintaining records- Leave records, inward and outward register, stock register, stationary register, etc.
  • Ensure TDS on salary, contractor payments and contractual payments, etc.
  • Preparing monthly indents, bank reconciliation statements, Log Book, Cheque Issue Details and budget monitoring sheets and sharing it with the team.
  • Maintaining cash-in-hand and cash count details in the administrative office.
  • Maintaining monthly back-up of the project’s accounts.
  • Preparing all report related finance and maintaining all related records (Monthly, Quarterly, Half-yearly, annual).
  • Looking after the auditing functions as being done by the external auditors.
  • Responsible for communication with donors, third parties including beneficiaries.
  • Ensuring participation in internal audit for cross-learning from other locations.
  • Preparing ABCD files and facilitating statuary and funding agency audit
  • Preparing receipts of payments, income & expenditure A/c, balance sheet, 6/4 tally on monthly basis.
  • Understanding of village level accounting and maintaining accounts at village level.
  • Knowledge and support in community institutions books writing, data management and accounting reports sent to HO.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Graduate/Post-Graduate from any recognized institute/University in Commerce/Accounts.
  • Ease of working on Microsoft excel and good knowledge of working in Tally ERP 9.0 is mandatory.
  • Have proficiency in working on Tally ERP 9.0/ Volac.
  • Minimum three years of relevant working experience in accounting.
    Preference will be given to the candidates who have excellent experience record working with NGO Account Procedures and Systems.
