Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) sponsored by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India was incorporated in 1978. It is one of the largest trade promotion councils with offices across the country and is the nodal agency to promote exports of readymade garments from India.
AEPC offers technical assistance, advice, information and seek to expand existing markets and open new markets for Indian apparel exporters. Its members contributes 6.5% share in India's total exports which is 3.7% of world's US$458.5 bn. apparel export.
Secretary General Job profile.
The Secretary General would lead a team of professionals in apparel export promotion, consultancy services to the apparel industry, administration and human resource development. The position would report to the Chairman and will be responsible for executing policies of the council as laid down by the Executive Committee of the Council. The Secretary General would be expected to make plans and strategies for promotion of apparel exports in the face of global challenges. He/ She would be expected to work closely and develop high level working relationship and
contacts with various government departments, other relevant organizations and key stake holders to enable the council to achieve its objectives as laid out by the Executive Committee.
The incumbent should preferably be an MBA. Should have minimum 15 years' experience in public administration/ International trade. Knowledge of the textiles and apparel industry would be an added bonus. Should have good knowledge of WTO, bilateral and multilateral trade agreement, should have good Liaising skills with various government departments.
The said position will be based at Head Office, Gurgaon (Haryana).
Remuneration: Salary and other perks commensurate with experience.
