SRIJAN promotes strong self–reliant community organizations of the poor, such as SHG federations and producer companies with an aim to build leadership among the community to manage livelihoods programmes sustainably, and to demand their entitlements from the government. SRIJAN has formed 5 producer organizations which run day to day business of dairy and agriculture/horticulture produce.
In the last 12 years, SRIJAN has expanded its outreach to 25,000 rural poor (women, dalit and tribals) in 14 districts of five states, namely, Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Karnataka , with special focus on semi arid areas, communities with entrenched social hierarchies such as Bundelkhand and tribal regions. SRIJAN was recently a finalist in the livelihoods awards announced by CNBC TV and ICICI Foundation.
We have strong partnerships with government, private sector and international donor agencies. SRIJAN regularly gives policy inputs to the Ministry of Rural Development in Government of India and to various state governments.
